What’s with all the commotion?
For a while now, I was oblivious to the war going on between Google and Yahoo. I knew they were rivals (who doesn’t?) but I didn’t think that they actually quarrel like children fighting over a piece of candy! LOL. While taking a peek at the blog of Google’s infamous software engineer, I chanced upon another blog belonging to an irate guy (who I’m guessing is) working for Yahoo. The argument is about Google copying the splash page of Yahoo’s “Upgrade IE7″ promotion, which consequently led to the quick comeback from Google that Yahoo has also been copying the development of their Adwords layout. Read more about this here and there. Don’t forget to read the comments! :)
I find it quite funny, really — the two giant search engines fighting over design issues and accusing each other of plagiarism. And what’s even more funny is this stunt exhibited by Google has provoked a number of people to speak unfavorably about them and initiate debates between Yahoo and Google supporters. It’s almost like watching a freak show! LOL.
If you ask Romz and me, we think the “plagiarism” Google did was sheer genius! With the negative publicity (and links) it gained, curious clickers are sure to head to their “Upgrade IE7″ promotion page and, while there, just might decide to upgrade their IE. It’s a clever strategy, don’t you think so? I can just imagine the people at Google laughing mischievously at all the fuss!
…or maybe not. I just might think that way because I am leaning more toward the great and powerful Google — who’s been nothing but a great, supportive and generous friend to me early this year. LOL. Long live Google and its loyal cohort! :D
