Today I finally had the time to bring my lappytoppy to a Toshiba service center, albeit not that easily. Since Makati does not actually have the most lenient road rules and standards — meaning one can’t get on and off a bus or jeepney just anywhere one needs to — I spent a considerable amount of time walking just to get to the building where the Toshiba customer service is, only to find out that their service center is actually located somewhere else. So I had to walk some more.
If for some reason someone needs this information, here’s the address:
Toshiba Service Center - Manila, Philippines
Tricom Dynamics - 2/F Metrohouse Bldg.
Sen. Gil Puyat Ave, Makati City - Tel: 890-65-25 to 32
Anyway, while there, the technician lady told me that since I’m still within the warranty period, the replacement of my DVD-rom is free, BUT I have to leave the laptop there for 3 days. I refused, since I have to bring it with me when I fly home this Saturday. She told me that I still have until January 10th before my warranty lapses, so I have plenty of time to have it fixed. In the meantime, she said she can disconnect then reconnect the DVD-rom to see if that’ll fix its auto-eject problem. And that she did. She unscrewed my laptop and pulled out the parts like the way someone would unwrap a gift excitedly! I swear I cringe right in front of her. I wanted to tell her, “Lady, you better hope to God you know what you’re doing!!” But she did manage to put it back together. Hehe. I was just a little shocked.
I tried it just now. It’s still not functioning properly. Boo-hoo. :(

For the past week or two, Rachel has been asking me to sell her my SE W800i phone. Apparently, she’s been wanting that kind of cellphone and has been looking for a pre-owned unit that she can buy at a cheaper price. I didn’t have plans of selling my phone — or at least, not yet then, since I just had it a few months ago. But because Rachel kept asking and asking (and no, not just because I’m gullible!), I suddenly found myself thinking about switching too. Then somewhere in the Internet, after meeting and exchanging emails with a new blogger friend, I saw this attractive cellphone (appearance and feature-wise), searched some more and found out that it’s actually sold cheaper than I expected! A day later, Rachel’s tinkering with my W800i, and I have a new clamshell phone. It’s like the universe conspired for it to happen. LOL. :) So far, I’m loving it. Thanks also to Deej for helping me think things through. :P

I’m counting the hours left till I finally board that airplane and fly back home. My mom’s been bombarding me with text messages telling me about the things I need to bring and things I need to do. She even asked me to buy her a bottle of Olay Total Effects. Apparently this thing helps fight the 7 signs of aging — or something convincing stated in the commercial. :D My mom said she wanted to try it ‘coz, as she so blatantly says, “I’m not getting any younger.” LOL. She can be funny sometimes. And I’m very excited to see her. :)
Bacolod, here I come!
