I am aiming to do two things starting today:

One. Since I’ve been spending too much the last two weeks, I need to save my money from now on. (Not to mention, pay day is not for another 10 days!) Two weekends ago, I moved to a new house with my brother. The house is a little far from where I work, but I get to have my own room so that pretty much balances things out. It’s almost a year since I’ve been living with my friends (former workmates) in an apartment in Mandaluyong City, and now I’ve said goodbye to them and I’m starting a new life in another city.

(A backgrounder for those who don’t really know me: Although I was born here in Manila, I am not really from here. I just started working here last year. So I’m actually islands away from my family — except my eldest brother — and pretty much living on my own.)

And because the house we moved into was not furnished, we had to start from scratch to fill those spaces up. So yeah, I’ve been spending way too much! Not only that, I’m also sending money to my parents and my brother who’s job-hunting in Cebu, so that’s twice my expense (and yet, other people, who do not have a responsibility such as this, just don’t get it! sheesh.). And if that’s not enough, Converse suddenly decides to have a sale of their oh-so-wonderful shoes (yes, including the Chuck Taylor ones) and since we practically have to pass through the Megamall to and from work, it was so hard not to cover my eyes and buy those pretty little things! I was with Karen on the opening day. We rummaged through the piles of shoes and made our way through the nasty crowd. Fortunately (or is it?), we got out of there alive with each a pair of shoes we had laid our eyes on. Heehee :)

To make matters worse, exactly the following day, Riz and Bheng asked me to take them to where the discounted Converse shoes were. I was only gonna show them where they were and yet somehow, I got out of there with another pair of shoes for myself! I don’t know what to blame really — the coercion of my two friends or my darn gullibility. Sheesh.

See now why I gotta save? I’ve been spending too much on the new house (and the new stuff), I’ve been sending money home, and I just got two new pairs of shoes! I’ll leave you to do the math.

Though, I also gotta say, I love the shoes I bought! :)

Two. I need to lose some weight! I know I’ve been really whiny about this and I wish I’m just exaggerating, but I’m not. I really am gaining weight! And I’m not the only one who can tell.. I’ve been counting, and there’s a total of 4 people so far who confirmed that my cheeks are actually getting chubby. Waaaaah.

So if one should come to think of it, the two things that I need to do actually go hand in hand. If I stop spending on food too much then I’d actually lose some weight! A weird and good thing about me.. I gain and lose weight quickly, so hopefully, this weight-reduction thing shouldn’t take that long. See here, my fingers are crossed. :D

Enough about those seemingly impossible missions. Take a look at these photos taken during a friend’s wedding in Batangas last month. It was a typical Filipino catholic wedding and the reception was just held in their backyard where there were trees surrounding the place. Very simple yet very nice. :D
