I admit it. I have been a net freak for as long as I can remember. Back when I was a freshie in high school, I first began my adventure in cyberspace with a postpaid Internet account of 20 surfing hours per month which, back then, was an astonishing 800 pesos! Well, astonishing then for a 13 year old like myself, at least. Prepaid Internet cards where not yet out in the market then. I got addicted to chat, ICQ, e-mail, anime fanfics, and discussion forums. I’ve even gained friends from all over the world just by religiously chatting in IRC. But the bad thing about it was, I consistently exceeded my postpaid plan’s limit that my dad always ended up paying more than his alloted budget for my “bisyo”. What a brat. My addiction then was finally put to an end when my dad saw the overwhelming Internet bill and took that as the last straw. He then had my account canceled. Much to my despair.

But more than a year later I was back in the game. I was using prepaid cards then so I didn’t have to bother my dad anymore. That was when I developed the desire to learn HTML, and completely got over my IRC addiction (which in my opinion is a stupid, stupid addiction). I attempted to learn, from scratch, how it is to design a webpage with the use of notepad and Corel Photopaint, thus later on creating my first and very amateur-ly done website with free hosting at geocities. Trivia: A few weeks ago, I was surprised to see that that site is still up! But which I’m too ashamed now to share the URL with you guys. I actually got squeamish myself as I re-read what I had written there and the poor way I designed that site. Heehee.

Since the time I fell in love with the web, I’ve dreamed to become a web developer, or at least, a web designer. I even took up a course which was related to, but not focused on, web development. But sadly, that road that I wished to take was not meant for me.. for I was a very pasaway student in my last year in college. :(

However, thanks to Riz, I am now pursuing a career that is still related to web. It’s not web design or development, but I think it just as interesting. I’m a newbie at this whole web copywriting and search engine optimization industry. Fortunately, we are blessed with bosses who, without a doubt, are certified SEO gurus. They’ve generously shared with us some ways on how we could use our copywriting skill (if you could actually call it a skill) to earn online and even shared to us classified information on how to earn really fast. Thanks to Sir Joel, I have finally set up my own space on the web. :)

And here’s another exciting part. Just like Riz mentioned in her blog: we’ve got loads of dreams up our sleeves. We’re planning this one thing that I think would make some of you really happy. But nothing’s final yet, not even the name of the project! (haha @ riz!). So do hope with us that that great idea won’t go down that drain. :) I feel like a student the past few weeks, learning new things and interesting techniques every day. It’s been really fun. Hopefully though, the projects my workmates and I chose to be part of will push through. And hopefully, we won’t grow tired of it.

Anyway, what I am trying to say is, since I’ve first found myself wanting to discover more on how the Net works, I never really thought that there’s MORE and MORE to learn out there. I’m still so new at this whole netrepreneurship so, God-willing, maybe a few years from now I could be better at what I’m doing right now. I don’t know why I’ve always been particularly interested in pursuing a career that’s related to the worldwide web more than any other career field. So maybe, just maybe, this is where I’m supposed to be. Maybe lng naman. :D
