WARNING: This is a LONG entry. I suggest you read this if you’re bored out of your mind and have nothing better to do. Otherwise, you’re just gonna find me and this entry cheesy. But if you’re just plain curious of what’s ahead, then that’s fine too. Hehe.
To think of ways to document a special event into account is kinda hard. My birthday was five days ago, and it’s needless to say that this entry is a little bit delayed. The truth is, I don’t know where and how to start. All I know is I have to make this entry, not just because I’m keeping a weblog so I ought to jot it down, but because I want to personally keep a record of it. So that in the future, when I read about the things I wrote, I would not only remember that day, but I would remember the feeling I felt then, which is equally important. I guess that’s the significance of blogs/journals. When we get to read our old entry, we don’t only get to reminisce, but we get to relive the day, and somehow we are left feeling almost the same way we felt at that time. It’s cool, isn’t it? But I know what you’re thinking.. why don’t I just write it down on my personal diary? Why do I have to babble on this little space on cyberland where I’m freely giving friends and strangers access to my thoughts? Well I don’t think that’s good, coz when it comes to scribbling, I usually have a hard time catching up with my thoughts. I am not a very fast handwriter. Hehe.
See there? As I’m catching up with the way my mind runs, I tend to say (i mean, type) the weirdest and outtacontext things as addition to what I had initially in mind to write. Hehe. Weird.
Anyway, I was gonna post an entry about my birthday last Sunday. A few weeks ago, I mentioned in one blog entry that “I wish that this year will be nothing like last year. That was, by far, the loneliest birthday I’ve had for all my life. That’s all. Simpleng wish lang.” — Just for the record, last year, I was a professional bum (and a family driver). Other than eating out for an hour or two with my college classmates (who were working here in Manila. I was staying in Pampanga then), I spent most of my time inside the bedroom. Contemplating. Hmm, that can’t be good for an introvert like me. It was supposed to be my special day, and yet I was experiencing a mind-numbing confusion every bum is entitled to feel. (I’ve also had my share of that torturous phase you know). As Riz so cleverly puts it, I was just “existing” then. (Haha! Nice Riz!). Anyway, my point is (there it goes again!), I was so feeling down last year that for this year I was wishing to spend it, well, better than last year. True enough, the good Lord has blessed me with the best people to make my wish happen.
A few days before my birthday, I was thinking of how to spend my Sunday in a more exciting way. I was told that pay day might fall on Monday or Tuesday. Since I only had so much to last me for a couple days, I discarded all possible plans and was contented with the plan to just stay at our apartment with my roommates and some friends, and maybe just prepare an inexpensive dinner. The day came as ordinary as they come. I received a bunch of txt greetings from friends (thanks peepz!), and a handful of calls from close friends and family, but the day still seemed unspecial. My roommates are working on a night shift (that’s why we’re like living in different time zones under one roof) so they had to go to bed around lunch time while I was left sitting in front of the TV flipping through the channels. Hours passed and I felt really, really sad that I was spending the day in the most boring way. So I got up and decided to take a stroll at the mall by myself before I go to church. By then, I kinda got the feeling that my friends were preparing a surprise for me. But for some weird reason, I wasn’t excited for it. Because I was thinking, that if it were up to me, I would’ve spent the day some other way rather than waiting in anticipation whatever it was that’s in store for the rest of the night. After the service at around 8pm, I met up with Deej. We headed back to our apartment, and when I got there I was surprised to see my roommates look like Santa’s little helpers moving around the house fixing the food for my “on-the-spot semi-party.” They apologized for waking up later than they should (sablay daw, but i didn’t mind at all!Ã). I wanted to give each one of them a big hug as gratitude for having such warm hearts.

Here I am fake-blowing my improvised birthday candle.

This was taken a day before my birthday in Bulacan.
Then the best surprise of all came just at the right time to completely cheer me up. Deej prepared this really cool DVD which at first only seemed like a presentation of different pictures of me with my friends (he based its theme on this blogsite’s layout) and a stolen camera shot of me at a coffee shop in Galleria. Suddenly, her face popped on the screen! I then realized that it was a compilation of video messages from some special people. It included my current workmates at ePac (Karen, Romela, Riz, Ying, Kelly & Reah) and my former workmates at Accenture (Cat, Granee, Hannah, Sword, Bernice, Jay & Carlo). It also included my brother Jec, and his girlfriend Che-Che, which amazed me the most since I didn’t think Deej had that much guts to find my brother and talk him into doing that. I felt like a guest at The Buzz watching a VTR organized just for me. Hehe! Mind you, I wasn’t crying. I was actually laughing the whole time. It was such a surprise that I was left wondering how in the world he has compiled that in such a short time. It turned out that it was the reason why I haven’t seen him for three days before Sunday. I knew he was up to something, I just didn’t know what. And I had no idea it was that special (or at least it was special to me, I dunno about what you guys think. haha!). That video of my close friends and my brother really made my day. Wouldn’t it be great if he also got a footage of my parents and my brother Jem, and my barkada who are all back in Bacolod? haha! Don’t push it, Jon.For my birthday, I received great gifts that are so in tune with what I want! Here are some:
- A surprisingly cool present from my cousin in VA (the one I mentioned a while back).
- A very cute optical mouse from Deej.
- The DVD Deej prepared. Na gift na rin ng ibang kong friends!
- A Php30 e-load from Rita. Ayus, Rits! haha!
- A free skirt repair from Rom. Di ko pa nalalabhan, Rom!
- Blog entries with birthday greetings from Anna Grace, Rita and Riz.
- A Happy Meal toy from Sir Joel and a link from one of his PR-5 websites for one month. Sana gawin ng for life diba? Sir Joel talaga.. hehehe.
- And a Starbucks tumbler also from Riz. Thanks, Whiza!
I just instantly fell in love with this baby when Riz gave it to me. She is (yes, the tumbler’s a girl, okay?) my new favorite office buddy. I carry her with me to the pantry (kapag panahon nang mag-igib ng tubig o magtimpla ng kape!) and to the bathroom (kse nagbabanyo muna ako bago mag-igib ng tubig o magtimpla ng kape! hehe!). Isn’t she the cutest?
In addition to this, someone keeps asking me why I don’t mention him that often in my blog. It’s kinda weird since I do spend most of my free time with him. I guess I’m just not the kind who blogs about stuff that are too personal and mushy (or maybe I am, and that part of me is just waiting to be unleashed. hehe). So this might be a good time to introduce him to my blog audience (if i have one, hahaha!). Hey joni’s-blog-lurkers, this is DEEJ. He’s the sweetest, coolest and cutest guy in the world! Hehehe.

The Mastermind
Hey Deej! So ngayon di lng kita binanggit, pinost ko pa picture mo! Hahaha! Sa susunod mo nlng ako patayin.. hehehe. I hope this makes you happy somehow. I dedicate this blog entry to you. You made my birthday this year as wonderful as it is that I even doubt if this blog entry is enough to give justice to it. Thanks for being one of the best people I know, and for always finding ways to make me feel special. Wish I could repay the kind gesture. Hehe. Don’t go anywhere okay? :)
Now that’s not exactly mushy, but it’s a start, isn’t it? I hope you guys aren’t laughing at me!

So that’s my story. I know you got bored just reading this, so I congratulate you for making it all the way down here. Hehe. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. Maybe some of you are wondering… I turned 17 this year. Hehehe! :P
